Journalism: A reporter and a photographer from the Nashua Telegraph came to interview us about the new online presence and the class in general. We suffered through AP Style and constant reminders that book reviews are due tomorrow.

Creative Writing: Book reviews are due tomorrow and the deadline for our scripts also grows close. Writing. Writing. Writing.

Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012

Journalism: Greene gave us the skinny on hits and likes for the new pub: Not bad. Then we resumed work on the new set of stories (1D deadline EOC Thursday). Also, the Telegraph wants to do a story on our awesomeness.

Creative Writing: A nice comfy ketchup day for Block 3. Some used it wisely, while some … Fourth-block students critiqued an award-winning story and started work on a piece of drama.

Turesday, Sept. 18, 2012

Journalism: Publishable drafts of lunch stories (w/sidebars) came due and Greene unveiled the new Panther Prints Online site. It was horrible, but now it’s better. Also, we worked on our new stories, the first draft of which are due Thursday EOC.

Creative Writing: Writing, then Greene handed out a story by Sherman Alexie for us to critique. Third-block critiques are due Thursday, BOC. Fourth-block critiques are due Wednesday, BOC.

Monday, Sept. 17, 2012

Journalism: Greene got his red pen out and bled all over our lunch stories. Meanwhile, we picked partners and started a new story. The new (publishable) draft of the lunch stories is due tomorrow.

Creative Writing: Our second stories are coming due, and we got the block to work on them.

Friday, Sept. 14, 2012

Journalism: Greene gave us a handout on how to critique a news story, and we went at it, swapping work and digging in. Weekend assignment was to bring the lunch stories up to third draft by BOC Monday.

Creative Writing: Greene collected the writing notebooks, and we set to work writing our second stories. The first draft of that tale is due EOC Monday (e-mailed) for third block and BOC Tuesday (printed) for fourth block.

Thursday, Sept. 13

Journalism: Writing and revising.  At BOC tomorrow, second draft plus sidebar is due — printed out.

Creative Writing: We read and critiqued Kurt Vonnegut’s short story “2BR02B” and then we worked on our stories. Notebooks will be collected tomorrow.

Wednesday, Sept. 12

Journalism: Greene linked us all via Google Documents and led us through edits to a few of our first drafts. So armed, we were assigned to bring our stories up to second-draft, with sidebar.

Creative Writing: A writing day!

Tuesday, Sept. 11

Journalism: Second day of story writing. First drafts are due tomorrow.

Creative Writing: The first stories are ripening in the rack, so we started a new one!

Monday, Sept. 10, 2012

Journalism: We boned up on Inverted Pyramid and basic (very basic) AP Style and then started writing up our stories.

Creative Writing: We cranked out the first draft of our first short stories for the class.

Friday, Sept. 7, 2012

Journalism: Lots of good interviews going on. Conrad responds by email. Richard is not a fan of the new lunch deal. The cafeteria workers are keeping mum. I love the smell of journalism in the morning.

Creative Writers: Stories! Third-block cranked hard toward their Monday EOC deadline. Fourth-block dallied with description then they, too, cranked. Mayn words were produced.
